Silt Filter Bags

6' x 6' Filter Bags for Dewatering

dewatering filter bagQuestion: I would like information about silt filter bags. Do you have specifications for a 6' x 6' dewatering bag model available? Can you provide them?

Answer: Thank you for contacting GEI Works! Our Dewatering Bags, also known as silt filter bags, are ideal for filtering sediment laden water. The water passes through the nonwoven geotextile fabric while retaining the sediment inside the bag.

6' x 6' Dewatering Bag Specifications

silt filter bags
  • Material Options: 8 oz. Nonwoven, 10 oz. Nonwoven
  • Discharge Hoses: Up to 4"
  • Capacity: 1.44 cubic yards per bag

All dewatering bags are fabricated using heavy duty needle punched filter fabric (non woven geotextile) which provides high permittivity (water flow) and a fine pore structure that allows water to flow through freely, while preventing fine soils from piping through. Another material option is woven monofilament (polypro or PE), which is ideal for high flow, rugged, and high tensile applications.

In addition to this dewatering bag, we also offer several other standard sizes as well as custom sizes:

  • 15 ft x 10 ft
  • 15 ft x 15 ft
  • 15 ft x 20 ft
  • 15 ft x 25 ft

Filter bags for dewatering may be placed directly on the ground, in porous surfaces, and in various other containers (even dump trucks!) to help filter, transport, and store materials.

Additional Dewatering Products

dewatering filter sockSometimes silt filter bags are too small for a project or too broad to fit in a pipe space. Luckily, GEI Works provides two other dewatering filtration solutions for these instances.

  • Dewatering Socks - Our filtration socks are designed as long, narrow silt filter bags. They attach to one end of a pipe or hose, allowing the water flow to filter through the sock. Standard sizes have a 4" to 16" diameter and are 5 feet long. As with many of our products, custom sizing is also available.
