in calm water areas such as swales, ditches, canals, small ponds, lakes, and harbors. GEI Works' Type 1 Turbidity Barriers are made in the USA and available at a low cost. Short term temporary barriers, and long
term models are available. These silt barriers surround projects to increase settling times and prevent spreading of materials.

Alternative Silt Barrier Models
Permeable Type 1 Silt Curtains are also available
for areas that required constant filtration of silt and sediment. Geo curtains (shown right) are made entirely of 8 oz. nonwoven fabric and are almost always used in short term applications.

Load Carrying Components
Since Type 1 turbidity curtain models are designed specifically for calm water areas, the load carrying components for the curtain will typically be the base fabric (13 oz. or 18 oz. PVC) and the bottom ballast chain (3/16").
