Kraken Oil Containment Boom
The Kraken Oil Containment Boom for fast and protected waters is the ideal containment option for moving water areas including:
- Rivers
- Streams

- Shorelines
- Moving Water Lakes
Featuring a high strength impermeable fabric and robust tension cable components, these booms are well equipped to maintain strength against high currents, waves and tides. Due to the hazardous nature of these spills, booms are typically built to meet OPA specifications for oil containment and environmental protection in moving water areas. Fittings: All booms come standard with galvanized steel cables and connectors.
SALT WATER AREAS: It is recommended that all salt water booms be made with the following components:
- Stainless Steel Cables
- Zinc Anodes
These components are more robust in design and equipped for extended salt water use. If this is a short term project and cost is an issue, standard galvanized steel components can be used for a period up to 1 year.
Marine Accessories
Having the right accessories can be essential to effectively installing, deploying and using your boom. For moving water locations (areas with tides, currents, high winds, waves), it is commonly recommended that booms be anchored throughout the length of the boom to help keep the boom in place. Anchor positioning can help to redistribute where the load falls on the curtain, prevent too much pressure from being placed at any one point.
Available Accessories:
- Shoreline Connectors
- Tow Bridles
- Anchor Kits
- Standard Tidal Compensators
- HD Tidal Compensators
- Reefing Lines

How Are They Packaged and Installed?
Most containment booms will feature a section length that is either 50' or 100' in length. When arriving to your location, all booms will typically feature rolled up skirts that are tied and connected to the boom. Keeping the bottom skirts rolled up will help to ease the deployment and installation process.
- Lay out all sections of boom in your location.
- Connect sections along their connection points (grommets, slide connectors, bottom chain).
- Deploy the boom into position through the use of a boat.
- Anchor booms as needed for your current/wave areas.
